So late did I learn about Ed's passing, from another mutual friend. I froze when I was told about it, but that also rattled my cages reminding myself we all are on borrowed time. My most profound sympathies to Ed's family and close friends.
Ed and myself used to work on myriad plant piping and pipeline projects in Western Canada while at Colt Engg, then WorleyParsons. He is one cheerful but intense person while performing our work. We had lots of comical moments on lengthy field inspections and surveys. We used to say that all these cold hard steel/pipes/massive equipment that surround us mean nothing, if at the end of the day we treat each other with contempt. Unfortunately, such lack of empathy is commonplace in the industry we both worked in. But we made so many friends and acquaintances along the way. Too bad, circumstance and project assignments kept us apart; must have been 10 years since I last saw Ed. But he will always remain in my thoughts and prayers - a true friend, down-to-earth and humble, and always meets you with a smile no matter how hard the problem may be. So long Ed, and rest peacefully.
