Obituary for Leanne Stang

Leanne Stang
Leanne’s journey started in Rosetown, SK, on August 6, 1967, (Centennial Year). A healthy happy babe grew up to be a beautiful young girl and woman. Her life centred on finding happiness in all she did.
Her interests were many, from Brownies to Cadets, learning and oilfield, friends, music (guitar), serious studying – University of Alberta and a B.Ed., to the outdoors – peace and tranquility found in nature. She had a confidence that carried her through doubts and pain.
Though an accident in her life brought her constant pain, Leanne never let pain stop her plan. She had strength to persevere. She loved nature – the quiet streams, the beauty of the mountains, and the quiet, serene part of the natural world. (Camping, Fishing, Bonfires). Leanne had a gift in being able to express her thoughts and ideas in a unique way. In writing a paper for an assignment she chose the title of “High heels and steel toed shoes” to express her views of being a female and working in a man’s world alongside her brothers and Jay.
Music. Singing and sharing with friends brought her joy and carried her through her pain. Her life with Jay and her son, Brandon gave her joy and a new purpose. She loved being a “Mom”! Leanne was always looking for new possibilities. From mother to daycare, to teaching College Students – to teaching ESL to new Canadians. She touched the lives of many by her interactions and caring personality she had become. She, with the love of her life, Jay Kanash, spent years working together; parenting their son, Brandon; using her talents and knowledge to help the adult students she taught to be able to cope and succeed. Her heart was fully engaged.
Too young, her journey ended on January 2, 2018. Her life was suddenly taken by a force she could not conquer. May the example of her life touch us and in some way challenge us to live our own lives to the fullest; to appreciate the gifts God has given us; to cherish the friendships and blessing of those around us.
Farewell Leanne, until we meet again. May you Rest in Peace. You will remain in our hearts forever.
