Condolence: Dear Linda, Ron and family,
I am writing this note to let you know how sad I am to hear of Mabel's recent death. As a member of the Hartley Shields clan,( through Myrtle Hartley my grandmother< and Margaret Smith,my mother) I got to know Mabel later in life when celebrating my Mom's 95th birthday at the 35th Hartley Shield's reunion at Crawford Lake. Mabel pitched in with the planning along with Ruth Bousfield and together with my sister, Donna, we managed to pull it off. Without Mabel's help and encouragement it might not have happened!
I always found Mabel to be forthright, honest, and willing to reach out to others as so many people have attested to in their messages.
This Christmas, after our recent move to the Parry Sound area, I didn't receive a call and wondered what was going on. Now I know the reason. She will be sorely missed.
