Obituary for Rosemary E. Eyster

Rosemary E.  Eyster
Rosemary E. Eyster, 84, died at York Hospital on January 9, 2018. She was the wife of the late Frederick C. Eyster.

Born February 14, 1933 in Menges Mills, York County, she was the daughter of the late Carl F. and Martha (Weaver) Stambaugh.

She was a graduate of West York Area High School and attended the University of Penn School of Nursing. Rose was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Wolf’s Covenant Church and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of West York VFW Post # 8951. She loved getaways to Ocean City, MD and Bedford, PA, and also to test her rare intellect watching trivia shows or doing crossword puzzles in the company of her family.

Rose is survived by two sons, Fred E. Eyster of York and John C. Eyster and his wife, Mel of York; a daughter, Martha A. Gunder and her husband, Craig of Laurel, PA; six grandchildren, Zach Eyster, Rachel Eyster, Michael Miranda, Michelle Durham, Austin Gunder and Taylor Gunder; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Marguerite Beck of York, a sister-in-law, Georgianne Eyster of York; numerous nieces; nephews; and cousins; and her special little dog, Lizzie. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jeffrey Stambaugh and his wife, Cindy (Becker) Stambaugh and Carl Stambaugh; her companion, Donald Myers; and a son-in-law, Jesse Miranda.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday January 13, 2018 at St. Paul’s Wolf’s Covenant Church, 4501 Wolf’s Church Road, York, with the Rev. Eric Palmquist, officiating. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Wolf’s Church Cemetery.
