Obituary for Rosemarie Elefante

Rosemarie  Elefante
Rosemarie Elefante, age 64, passed away on January 20, 2018 in Atlanta, Ga. A native of New Milford, New Jersey, she was born on December 20, 1953.

Rosemarie received her BS degree in Special Education from Miami University of Ohio in 1975. She taught for a few years then became an Airline Attendant for Eastern Airlines. She went on to obtain her Master’s Degree in Counseling from Georgia State University in 1987. After working 10 years as a health counselor, she retired to raise her son.

Before falling ill with Multiple Sclerosis, she enjoyed the great outdoors, hiking and camping with husband Stan.
During her illness, she took up bird watching and writing poetry and enjoyed life to the fullest. She was a very positive person who always saw the glass as half full. She very much enjoyed visits from family and friends – and leveraged technology to visit with those from afar.

Rosemarie is survived by her beloved husband Stanley Benak of 29 years and son, Zachary Louis Benak. She was predeceased by her parents, Louis and Rose Elefante and her brother Thomas J Elefante. She is survived by her beloved siblings: Ellen Menzo (John), Daniel Elefante (Janet), Gerald Elefante (Maryanne), Louis Elefante Jr. (Jennifer), and Gary Elefante (Janine). She also leaves behind beloved step children, Bryan Benak, Mark Benak and Michelle Benak and 6 grandchildren. She was also an endeared aunt to 16 nieces and nephews.

Visitation services at Poole Funeral Home, 1970 Eagle Drive, Woodstock, GA on Wednesday, January 24 from 6pm to 8pm. A prayer service will be held at 8pm at the funeral home.

The burial service will be at 11am on Thursday the 25th at Honey Creek Woodlands At the Monastery of the Holy Spirit in Conyers, Georgia. Casual clothing and foot ware are required for those attending the burial service. Cut flowers are welcome at the grave site.
