Condolence: To this day, every time I hear of an earthquake, I think of Mr Jess and 7th grade science class. Like so many other students at Turner Middle school, I consider myself so very lucky to have had the opportunity to learn from him. May you find peace and comfort knowing that the wonderful memories you have are, in part, shared by they many people who's lives he touched.

You will live on forever through all the students and athletes you worked with and impacted creating the adults they are today.

Condolence: Dear Martha, Rich, Tom, Alice, and Jackie, Hugs and prayers to all of you for healing with the loss of your spouse and dad. There are so many good memories of good times at Turner Middle School with John, Martha, and his children. John was always up for a good time and had a bit of mischief in him that always kept us laughing. The one thing that I remember the most about John was how he always found the heart and soul of so many and looked beyond their actions. He was a life-long teacher with so many talents to share with others. He will be missed by many but his joy for life will life on in his family, friends, and students!

Condolence: Copied from my Facebook page: Sad to learn of the passing of one of the best teachers that the Turner School District ever had. Mr. John “Grandpa” Jess. You will be missed by soooooo many. You were the type of teacher that really took your time to care regardless of the “type” of student you had. I will always remember the way you treated me more as a friend than a student. How you saw past the kid who was a bit “troublesome” and were still able to “reach” me. You taught me more about life than science. We shared a good many laughs and good natured ribbing. You cared..... Teaching was more than a job and we were more than just students to you. RIP Grandpa Jess, you old fart..... 😢 To all of John’s family, I want to thank you for sharing him with the rest of us throughout his years as a teacher. We are all just a little better because of him. May you all be comforted by the happy memories he gave you and the rest of us....... Rest In Peace Old Man❤️😢
