John M  Barela
1947-2018
John M. Barela Jr., age 70, a resident of Los Lunas, NM, born October, 23, 1947, to parents, Juan and Ruby (Griego) Barela, of Santa Rosa, NM. He was a member of San Clemente Catholic Church. Growing up John lived in Clovis, NM, where he attended High school and College. After college John went to the police academy graduated and became deputy sheriff in Clovis, NM. He also worked at the railroad. John moved to Albuquerque, NM, to play music. He was a lead singer and guitar player. John met his wife Julia and married on February 22, 1988. He soon moved to Tucumcari, were he worked for the Housing Authority. When he retired he moved to Carlsbad, NM, and began to work at the Travelers Inn for Doctor Dara, where he did the maintenance. John shortly moved to Los Lunas, NM, do to his illness and is now at rest. He was preceded in death by sisters; Tillie Diomede, Flora Nunez, and Marcella Marez; and brothers; Roy and Moises Barela. John is survived by his loving wife, Julia (Salas) Barela; daughters, Elizabeth and husband, Robert Rodriguez, Tina and husband, Jason Martinez, Ruby and husband, Brian Mott, Jazlin Barela and fiancé, Timothy Clem; son, Angel “AJ” Ramirez; sister, Linda and husband, Tony Apodaca; brother, Eugene and wife, Hope Barela; sister-in-law, Geneva Barela; grandchildren, Robert, Xavier, Alizé, Alexandria, Jason Jr., Elijah, Ranee, Antonio, Brian, Javane, Mason, and Alena; and great-grandchildren, Aneliese, Achillis, Isaiah, and JJ. All services will be held at Noblin Funeral Service Los Lunas Chapel, on Friday, January 26, 2018. A Public Viewing will begin at 5:00 p.m., with a Rosary to be Recited at 6:00 p.m. Arrangements are being handled by the caring professionals at the Noblin Funeral Service Los Lunas Chapel, 2211-D Main St., (505) 866-9992.
