Obituary for Rudolf Charles "Rudy" Raab

Rudolph "Rudy" Charles Raab, 78, of Evansville, passed away Friday, January 19, 2018 at his home. He was born July 8, 1939 in Evansville to the late Victor W. and Jane Irene (Myers) Raab.
He was a long-time active member of Zoar UCC in Elberfeld. He graduated from Mechanic Arts, the predecessor to Evansville North High School. Rudy was a Marine veteran and worked for Whirlpool for over 30 years. He enjoyed the outdoors, and like his father, loved to fish. He primarily fished for large mouth bass, always looking to land one bigger than the last. He always practiced "catch and release". His primary passion was vintage Fords and NASCAR racing. Rudy would talk your arm off about older Fords if allowed. He was a walking encyclopedia on parts and which parts were interchangeable.
Rudy was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Emily (Schaffer) Raab of Mt. Vernon, IN and cousin, Art Eldridge of Morton, IL.
He is survived by his brother, Robert Raab (Kathleen Green Raab) of Evansville; niece, Vickie Jane Raab Weger (Rick) of Arthur, IL; great-niece, Rikki Jane Weger Parker (Jordan) of Beaufort, SC; cousins, Lloyd Raab (Cathy) of Carlinville, IL, Norma Eldridge of Morton, IL, and Doris Gartner (Jim) of Effingham, IL.
A Funeral Service will be 12:00PM, Thursday, January 25, 2018 at Alexander North Chapel, 4200 Stringtown Road, with burial in Zoar United Church of Christ Cemetery. Friends may visit Thursday from 10:00AM to service time at the funeral home.
Condolences may be made online at www.AlexanderNorthChapel.com.
