Obituary for Joyce Barbee
Wilma Joyce Barbee, 87, of Abilene, TX passed away Thursday, January 25, 2018.
Joyce was born on March 22, 1930 in North Groesbeck, TX to her parents, Bengie and Bessie Griffin. She graduated from Quanah High in 1947. She married Glenn Barbee in December 1947 and they lived in Goodlett, TX. For many years they lived in the west Texas area. After retiring they moved to Abilene, TX in 1994. She enjoyed reading, gardening, painting and handcrafts, but most of all she enjoyed her grandchildren.
Joyce is survived by her husband of 70 years Glenn, her daughters Sue Daniels and husband Danny, Kathy Lawson and husband Jim. She is also survived by 4 grandsons, 8 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great- granddaughters.
She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one granddaughter.
Pall bearers will be her grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, January 26, 2018 at North’s Funeral Home at 242 Orange St in Abilene from 5-7 pm. The funeral will take place at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at the chapel of North’s Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Reid officiating. Burial will follow at Goodlett Cemetery in Goodlett, TX with graveside services to be held at 4 pm.
