HAMPTON – Wayne L. “Spider” Hampton, age 62, of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully in the arms of Jesus Christ on Sunday, January 28, 2018. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ann Hampton and dear friend, Dan Willis. Spider is survived by his siblings, Jane Eberhardt, Michael Walker, James Hampton, Darryl Hampton, Sabrina Ursery, and family, Aaron Christensen, twin brother by another mother; step-son, Kevin Johnson of Greenville, Michigan; extended family, Tom, Angie, Jimmy, Judy, Kim, Holly and Jeff at Metron of Cedar Springs; special friends, Dean and Sue Dault, Richard and Eva Fuller. He was born in Jackson, Tennessee where he grew up and practiced his Baptist faith. Spider proudly served his country in the United States Navy and served on the U.S.S. Ranger. He retired as a sergeant with the Michigan Department of Corrections, where he served in Ionia and Muskegon. Spider was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys, University of Michigan Wolverines and NASCAR. He was a` Master Griller and Food Connoisseur. The family will receive family and friends at the Beuschel Funeral Home, 5018 Alpine Avenue, Comstock Park on Saturday, February 10, 2018 from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. The Celebration of Spider's life will follow at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Doug Compton officiating, of Alpine Baptist Church, and under auspices of the Kent County Veterans Honor Guard, at the funeral home.
