The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Dr. James W. Vardaman can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

The lighting of a Memorial Candle not only provides a gesture of sympathy and support to the immediate family during their time of need but also provides the gift of extending the Book of Memories for future generations.

James L. Scott

My favorite story is how he walked to Fair Park (children could do that then) at age seven to see the Centennial State Fair. He had a dime for the whole day. He had a wonderful time, and spent the dime carefully. He started for the exit at night and saw people dropping coins in a barrel at the gate, so he figured you had to pay to get out. A night watchmen of the fair found him crying softly beside a building. He asked why, and little James Vardaman said: "I don't have any money to get out." The watchman dried his tears, chuckled, and told him he was definitely free to go home. That is what Our Savior told James Vardaman yesterday!
