The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Dr. James W. Vardaman can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

The lighting of a Memorial Candle not only provides a gesture of sympathy and support to the immediate family during their time of need but also provides the gift of extending the Book of Memories for future generations.

James Henderson

Our loss of Jim Vardaman is both personal and public. Publicly, he was known as an outstanding teacher, a pied piper of sorts, who was able to share his insights in a way that was both instructive and intimidating. He had a great mind, but also a kind heart. I will be forever greatful that he provided me with the opportunity to participate in the Baylor in the British Isles program. My children grew up going to London every summer and not camp. I believe they are better off for that experience. In 2001, I became co-director of the study abroad program that he founded and nurtured, now known as Baylor in Great Britain. I have always used his approval as a measuring stick for the program. It is my hope that he still approves.
