Julie and Don Bohl
Gary was a confidante to many people at Combe--from Combe family members to executives, middle managers, the mailroom staff, secretaries and anyone who needed an ear or a shoulder. He could make a referral to a reasonable and trustworthy resource for almost any need. His seat of the pants common sense, practical judgment and know-how had him being the consummate contractor/ multi project manager: he could gut a wing of the building, carry out a new decor theme, have some furniture repaired, recover from a flood, change office lay-outs, fix the blinds, renovate spaces and then move entire departments, place poinsettias and wreaths, and make a run to JFK. Gary gave me advice on my own household repairs, but it is at Christmas that I will always remember him. I asked Gary where I could find large creche figures for my lawn. He asked if they needed to be lighted from inside. I said no that we would put a spot light on them. That was more than 12 years ago. He brought me Mary, Joseph and the baby Jesus from his attic. (He had replaced them at his house.) They can be found on the lawn of our corner house in Port Chester every year. God's wisdom is beyond ours. May He console and grant peace to all who love Gary. Our prayers are with all of the family.
