James Leonard Jones Jr. “Boots,” age 67, passed away Wednesday January 31, 2018 at Manor Care Health Service in Chambersburg, PA.
Born September 18, 1950, in Chambersburg, PA, he was a son of the late James Leonard Sr. and Mary E. Cuff Jones.
After attending James Buchanan High School, James worked for the tannery in Mercersburg. He worked most of his life at Grove Manufacturing and spent some time working for Rosenberry Lumber and East Coast Green. At one time, James owned and operated Jones Phillips 66 Gas Station in Mercersburg. James was a kind, hard working person and would do anything for anybody. James enjoyed hunting and country music as well as socializing with his friends and family. He loved watching his daughter, Lydia, play sports.
James was a member of the American Legion Post 517 and Moose Lodge #1790, both of Mercersburg.
Surviving family include a daughter, Lydia Mary Angle Jones, and her mother, Melinda Angle of Mercersburg. He is also survived by three sisters: Sandra and Ronald Burhanan of Mercersburg, Nancy Jones of Mercersburg, Florence and Walter Jones of Chambersburg, and two brothers, Charles Jones and Curtis Jones, both of Mercersburg.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 9, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home in Mercersburg Pennsylvania. A visitation will take place 1 hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a college scholarship fund in the name of Lydia M. Jones and payable to Hartford Funds, and mailed to Lydia at 34 Linden Ave., Apt 1B, Mercersburg, PA 17236.
