Obituary for David Crockett Johnston

David Crockett  Johnston
David Johnston, age 82 of Como, passed away on Sunday, February 4th, 2018 in Tyler. He was born on June 7th, 1935 on Weeks Island in Louisiana to Silas Gordon Johnston and Mary Elizabeth (Gahn) Johnston. A proud Veteran, Mr. Johnston served in the United States Navy. He spent his life working as a Master Electrician. He married the love of his life, Annie Marie Rhea on May 11, 1979. David and Marie moved from their longtime home of Henderson, Texas to Como to retire in 2004. He has been a long time Deacon of the Black Oak Baptist Church in Como. To say David Johnston was an avid hunter would be an understatement. A member of the American Sportsman Club and Life Member of the National Rifle Association, understand, if it swam, flew or walked, and you could buy a license to hunt it, David did!


He is survived by, Wife Annie Marie Johnston, daughter, Tammy and Son-in-law Jack Breeding, son Dwayne and daughter-in-law Kris Johnston, daughter Merrion and son-in-law Jason Coleman, son Jeffrey and daughter-in-law Verlene Harman, son Michael and daughter-in-law Jean Harman, sister-in- law Faye Johnston, numerous grandchildren & great grandchildren. David was preceded in death by parents and 5 siblings.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 5th, 2018 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Black Oak Baptist Church, 14440 FM 69 South, Como, Texas, 75431. Funeral Services will follow in the church at 11:00 am, Bro. Charlie Beliew officiating, interment will follow at Rock Hill Cemetery near Winnsboro with Lawson Bonnette officiating. Pallbearers are Marshall Harman, Jacob Guerrero, Searn Rodgers, Cody Hunt, Chad Hunt, Paxton Moore, Honorary Pallbearers are Kenneth McAnally, Ron Smith, Larry Rhea, Donnie Rhea, Dennis Hunt.
The family requests, that in lieu of flowers, memorials be directed to DAV – Disabled American Veterans
