Obituary for Margaret Morhart

MORHART, Margaret Reta

Peacefully at home surrounded by family on February 7, 2018 at the age of 89. Loving wife of the late Joseph (1992). Dear mother of Lloyd, Gary and Allan (Paula). Cherished grandmother of David and Kevin. Predeceased by her parents Stephan and Rosalia Hido and siblings Steve, Mary, John, Rosie, Joseph, Anne and Helen.

Margaret was born on a farm in Saskatchewan to Rosalia and Stephan Hido. Second youngest of 8 children. Worked hard and went to a country school. Worked the land along side Dad and 3rd brother Joseph. Moved to Hamilton in 1954-5 along with Hurricane Hazel. Two older brothers were in the air force – Steve and John.

She got a job at Bell Canada in Hamilton. Met and married her husband Joseph who, shortly after, was transferred to Carling O’Keefe Breweries in Etobicoke and so they moved to small town Brampton. Mass in Brampton was being held at the John Street hall with Fr. Sullivan. Catholics were few and the C.W.L. was trying to thrive.

Margaret’s oldest sister “Mary” – Sister Bernarda – was a nun with the “Sisters of Social Service”. She will be missed by numerous nieces and nephews from Ontario to British Columbia.

Family and Friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home “Brampton Chapel”, 52 Main Street South (Hwy 10), Brampton on Sunday February 11, 2018 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday February 12, 2018 at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 66A Main Street South, Brampton. Interment to follow at Assumption Catholic Cemetery.
