Obituary for Serge A Manni

Serge A  Manni
Serge Manni, 92, of Manasquan passed away peacefully on Friday February 9, 2018 at his home with his family by his side. Although born in New York City he spent the first 8 years of his life in Northern Italy. Returning to the US in 1933, he lived in Brooklyn and Queens before his marriage to his wife Carole in 1950 after which he resided in NJ. Serge joined the US Army during World War II where he served in the European Theater of war as a Combat Medic with the 30th Infantry Division. During his tenure in the Army Serge was the recipient of The Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal and a Combat Medical Badge. He served in the Army Reserves from 1949 until 1953 as a Counter Intelligence Agent with the 254th C.I.C. Detachment. Serge attended school in NY and Fairleigh Dickinson University as well as numerous foreign language schools. He was employed by Duro-Test Electric Ltd. of Canada. In this capacity he traveled extensively in Asia, Europe, Central and South America. In 1964 the Secretary of Commerce Mr. Luther Hodges presented Mr. Manni with the Presidential “E” Citation for his Company’s outstanding achievements in the field of International Commerce. In 1966 he was appointed Chairman of the International Relations Committee of the Illuminating Engineering Society. In 1976 he was appointed to the Industry Sector Advisory Committee for Trade Negotiations in Washington DC. In 1985 he was appointed a member of the New Jersey Export Council where he assisted companies in NJ to set up international operations. Serge spoke Italian, Spanish, French and was also conversant in German which greatly aided is work in the international field of business. He was a communicant of Church of St. Martha, Point Pleasant, NJ. Serge was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a kind and decent man and most of all, he was always a gentleman.

Serge was predeceased by his parents Frank and Mary Manni and a sister Gloria Manni. He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years Carole (nee Neggia) Manni of Manasquan; his loving two sons and two daughters-in-law Thomas and Sharon Manni of Manasquan and Robert and Uni Manni of New York City. Serge is also survived by his cherished grandchildren Melissa Girkesh, Justin Manni, Emily Rosenthal and Sky Manni and loving great grandchildren Tyson Manni, Brayden Girkesh and Lilli Manni.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation of Sunday February 11, 2018 from 1-4 pm at Orender Family Home for Funerals 2643 Old Bridge Road Manasquan, NJ 08736. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 am on Monday February 12, 2018 at Church of St. Martha, Point Pleasant. Entombment will follow at St. Catharine Mausoleum, Sea Girt.
