Obituary for James Francis Yost

James Francis  Yost
After a lengthy illness, with loved ones at his side, James F. Yost, age 86, of Omro, died Monday morning, February 12, 2018, at his home. Born on November 28, 1931, the son of Jon and Catherine (Johnstone) Yost, Jim married Jean Stern on August 5, 1953, in New London, Wisconsin. A very patriotic person, Jim served his country during the Korean War with the U.S. Navy. He was an active member of the Oshkosh United Veterans Honor Guard and the Omro American Legion Post #234. Jim was active with his church, St. Mary Catholic Church, having served on the Church Council, ushered, and led adult and high school religious education classes. He was employed by Bemis Corporation as a Printing Supervisor. He enjoyed time motorcycling, golfing in several leagues in Omro, and hunting, especially deer and turkey.
Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years, Jean Yost of Omro; his children, Michael (Juanita) Yost of Kansasville, Wisconsin, Thomas Yost of Omro, Mary Yost of Oconto, Wisconsin, and Peter Yost of Oshkosh; four grandchildren, Kristen (Travis) Whitney, Jon (Mimmie) Yost, Valerie (Aaron) Spaulding, and Matthew Yost; and six great-grandchildren. Preceding Jim in death are his parents, a daughter, Paula Yost, a brother, Robert Yost, and a sister-in-law, Ella Yost.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 17, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary Catholic Church, 730 Madison Ave., Omro, with Father Tom Long and Sister Pam Biehl officiating. Burial will take place at Most Precious Blood Cemetery in New London at a later date. A time of visiting and sharing of memories will be held on Saturday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers please contribute to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and/or Casa Esther. The family wishes to thank Fox Valley Hematology and Oncology Associates, Oshkosh for their excellent and compassionate care.
