Abe Hern
Abe Hern, 86, of Independence, MO passed away February 10, 2018. Memorial services will be held 2 pm, Friday, February 16, 2018 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Abe will be inurned in Brooking Cemetery following the service. Abe was born on December 31, 1931 in Boncarbo, CO 1 of seven children born to Gus and Bertha (Torres) Hern. Abe was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force and a member of the American Legion Tirey J. Ford Post 21. Upon his completion of his service Abe enrolled in Finley Engineering College where he obtained his Bachelor’s degree. For over 31 years he was employed with Lake City Army Ammunitions Plant as a Senior Facility Engineer, retiring in 1997. Abe along with his wife were long time members of St. Mark’s Catholic Church, where he enjoyed volunteering in his spare time. He also enjoyed trout fishing in CO, and fixing anything that needed fixing. He was a true family man, wonderful husband, father, granddad, great granddad and friend. All that knew him loved him and he will leave an amazing legacy behind. Survivors include; his loving wife of over 64 years, Juline (Still) Hern; son Michael Hern and his wife Carla; daughters Gayle Clarkson and Pam Morley; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; brothers Dan Hern, Charlie Hern and Sam Hern; sisters Viola Archibeque and Marion Johnson, a large extended family and many friends.
