Obituary for Margaret Speer

Margaret  Speer
LUSBY, MD - Margaret Frances Speer, 79, went home to be with the Lord on February 12, 2018. She previously lived in Fishkill.

Born in Fishkill on April 18, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Richardson) Dolfinger. She graduated from the Wappingers Central School district. Mrs. Speer worked for the Telephone Company, Dry Dock Savings Bank, and was an Administrative Assistant Manager with IBM in East Fishkill, retiring in 1992 after 18 years of service.

On November 11, 1959 in Fishkill, she married Joel S. Speer who survives at home in Lusby, MD. They have one daughter, Shelby Henderson of Mitchellville, MD and two grandsons, Joel and Gary Henderson of Mitchellville, MD. She is also survived by her brother, Clifford Dolfinger of Fishkill; her sister, Jane Atkins of Fishkill; her brother-in-law, Richard Atkins of Beacon; her sisters-in-law, Linda Dolfinger of Hyde Park and Sheila Dolfinger of Wappingers Falls; her favorite niece, Richelle Atkins of Poughkeepsie and her special niece Nancy Huntley of High Point, NC, and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her siblings, Anna Mae Dolfinger, Louis Dolfinger, Helen Accoo, Raymond Dolfinger, and Frank Dolfinger, Jr.

Margaret enjoyed cross stitching, walking, and attending her grandsons’ academic, sports, and musical events. She loved to keep in touch with family and friends by texting, and liked to play solitaire on her iPhone.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, February 19th from 10am-12pm at the McHoul Funeral Home of Fishkill, Inc., 1089 Main Street, Fishkill followed by a funeral service at 12pm at the funeral home.
