Obituary for Billie Fay Stephens (Moore)

Service for Billie Fay Moore Stephens, 85, of Cleburne will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018 in Field Street Baptist Church. Reverend Gerald Moore will officiate, assisted by Reverend John Glover. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chad Stephens, Jacob Stephens, Marshall Spiking, Bob Danser, Aaron Welch, Jason Jaeger and Trace Danser. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 P.M., Monday, at the funeral home.

Billie Fay Moore Stephens passed away Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018 in Cleburne. She was born April 27, 1932 in Rio Vista to Jim and Emily Susan Young Moore. She married Reverend Joe Stephens on March 25, 1950 in Cleburne and he preceded her in death on Dec. 28, 2016, after 66 years of marriage.

Mrs. Stephens retired as an executive manager from Mountain Bell Telephone Co. She was an active member of Field St. Baptist Church, after serving alongside her husband in various churches throughout Texas and Arizona. She cherished the many members she taught over the years as a Sunday School Teacher. She was a mentor to many and loved by all. Mrs. Stephens was a member of Meals on Wheels and was so passionate about this community service, she involved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren whenever they visited. She volunteered her time at Spirit of Sharing and through her calling of service was always available for those in need. Billie was honored to be named “Woman of the Year”. She was loved and cherished by everyone she met and will be greatly missed by all, especially her dear family members.

Survivors include her children, Bobby Joe Stephens and wife Mary of Godley, Stephanie Henry and husband John of West Fork, AR, and Gena Stephens of Sioux Falls, SD; nine grandchildren, Tami, Rod, Chad, Jason, Courtney, Marshall, Ashley, Aaron and Andrew; 16 great grandchildren; sister, Betty Holt of Rio Vista; brother, Reverend Gerald Moore and wife Doris of Tow; numerous nieces and nephews, and many additional loving family and friends. She was also preceded in death by her parents.

Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels of Johnson and Ellis County, 106 E. Kilpatrick, Cleburne, TX 76031-9901.
