Mr. James David Humphreys, age 75 of Forest Hill, went home to Jesus on Saturday, February 17, 2018 in Fort Worth. He was born on March 4, 1942 in Mineola to the late Louis Humphreys and Dorothy Ussery Humphreys. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Alba and was a retired accountant.
Mr. Humphreys was recognized by President Reagan for his volunteer work at the Forest Hill Police Department and he served on several civic organizations including serving as President of the Forest Hill Crime Prevention Board, Commissioner on the Forest Hill Planning and Zoning Board, as well as many others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Frances Ann Anderson and niece Elizabeth Brittain.
He is survived by, his wife, Mary Gwynn Humphreys; daughter, Melany Ann Leuty and her husband John; sister, Laura Jane Florida and her husband Ray; two grandchildren, McKenzie Paige Johnson and husband Ryan, Victoria Lynn "Tori" Leuty; nephews and nieces, Bill Brittain, Cameron Anderson and wife, Jacqui, Rachel Basham and husband Mark and Laura Toomer and husband Brandon.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 22, 2018, at Beaty Funeral Home in Mineola, as well as from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 23, 2018, at First Baptist Church of Alba 219 East Holley St. Alba, Texas 75410, funeral services to follow beginning at 2:00 p.m., with, Rev. John Lee Ussery conducting. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Garden in Mineola.
