Obituary for John David Wilsey

John David Wilsey, age 79, of Mound, passed away on February 20, 2018.
John was born on May 25th, 1938 in Minneapolis to Neil and Ruth [Burmeister] Wilsey. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. John attended grade school in south Minneapolis and graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1956. He attended Augsburg College for two years and then transferred to the South Dakota School of Mines to study Electrical Engineering.
John married Sandra [Rottunda] of Granite Falls, MN on September 3, 1960. They raised their four children in Mound, MN; Kimberly Wilsey Johnson, Ann Wilsey Gesme (Paul), Charles (Kris), and Kristen Wilsey Lokken. Grandchildren; Emily Johnson, Haley (Kyle) Meisinger, Charlie and Tommy Gesme, Blaine, Samantha and Max Wilsey, and Mackenzie and Taylor Lokken. Great Grandchildren: Ariana, Xavier, Sophia, and Serenity and a new one in March. John is survived by one sister, Mary Casebolt (Shane), brother-in-law John Rottunda (Barbara) and sister-in-law Susan Rottunda.
He is preceded in death by parents, Neil and Ruth Wilsey; in-laws Ernest and Doris Rottunda; and brother-in-law Tim Vaughn.
John was active in the Lions Club for over 50 years and a recipient of the Melvin Jones award for outstanding service. He took an active interest in his community wherever he lived, sharing his time and energy to make things better for others. John spent his life in the commercial temperature control industry, first at Honeywell, and then his own company – Pneumatic Controls, and later Midwest Controls.
A celebration of his life will be on Saturday, February 24 at 11:00am with visitation an hour before the service. Mt. Olive Lutheran Church 5218 Bartlett Blvd, Mound.
