Obituary for Virginia R Slater

Virginia Slater (nee Calandrino) passed away peacefully on February 23, 2018 with her loving
children by her side. Born in the Bronx, New York on October 1, 1928 Mrs. Slater was a long-time
resident of Yonkers, where she lived a full and happy life wholly devoted to her beloved husband Tom
(who predeceased her in 2012), and her two beloved children, Thomas Jr. (Antoinette) and Susan, with
whom she happily shared a birthday. Virginia, a woman of great dignity and character, was also the
consummate grandmother, dedicated unconditionally to her two cherished grandsons, Thomas III and
Nicholas Slater.
Mrs. Slater will forever be remembered for her natural beauty, inside and out, and for her
compassion and love for her family. Throughout her life, she was known to her loved ones and countless
friends as the very definition of a "lady" and as a self-effacing, humble and accomplished mom and
grandmother. Her passing will leave a void which will forever be unfilled, but her inimitable style and
grace will live, without end, in the hearts of her loving family.
