Mrs. Enid Mills, daughter of the late Ms. Harriet Beckford and Mr. Noel Beckford, and niece of the late Enise Johnson, was born April 12, 1959 in Boston, Massachusetts.
Enid was a student and graduate of both Jamaica Plain High School and Northeastern University. While attending high school, she was a member of the National Honor Society and the softball team. She excelled in the sciences, especially biology, and loved music and dancing. Enid was baptized as a Christian along with her two sisters. She loved God and family. Her pride and joy was her son, Saheed, whom she raised to become a fine, young man and helped him to attend and graduate from the prestigious Tufts University. She shared her life with her husband, John Mills, from Ghana, West Africa and they lived together in Bradford, Massachusetts. Enid worked at Fidelity House, a nonprofit organization committed to supporting people with developmental disabilities and their families. Enid also worked as a Human Services Manager at Bridgewell since 2012. Bridgewell is an organization that empowers people with disabilities and other life challenges to live safe, self-directed and productive lives. Enid was well-liked by her clients and co-workers and met her husband on the job. Enid was a very spiritual, loving and caring wife, mother, Aunt, sister, daughter and friend. She would go out of her way to meet the needs of others and had a strong personality.
She kept her head up high and was filled with ambition, hope, faith and perseverance. She wanted only the best for her family and friends.
Enid leaves to cherish her memory: Saheed Ibraheem, her son, her husband, John Mills and Mother-in-law, Ms. Cecilia Mills of Ghana; 2 sisters, Gina Toney (the oldest) Sandra Hutchison of North Carolina (the youngest); 2 brothers, Noel Beckford of Washington DC, Eddie Beckford of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; 3 nieces, Antoinette, Amanda and Aba; 2 nephews, Anthony and Nana; grand nieces and nephew, her 3 step-children, and a host of in-laws and cousins.
There will be a Viewing on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 from 6:00 to 7:00pm followed by Funeral Service at 7:00pm at Riley-Antoine Funeral Home 171 Humboldt Avenue, Dorchester, MA 02121
Interment: Oak Lawn Cemetery on Wednesday 2/28/18 @10:30AM
