Rev. George W  Buchin
Reverend George William Buchin, age 86, of Baxter, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2018 at Woodland Cood Samaritan Society. Rev. George was born on August 12, 1931 in Concord, New Hampshire to Earle & Esther (Erickson) Buchin. He graduated from Whitworth College of Spokane Washington in 1953, and from the University od Dubuque, Iowa in 1956. He was united in marriage to Lois Mechels on May 30, 1957. George pastored churches at Muscoda, WI, George, IA, West Fargo, ND and St. Cloud. He served as an Interim Pastor in Brainerd and Crosslake. He also served as a chaplain for Woodland Good Samaritan Society in Brainerd. George and Lois spent 6 winter months at Cook College, Tempe, AZ, a training school for Native Americans for Christian Leadership. He also volunteered in Mission, led 2 work camps at Sitka, Alaska. George also enjoyed other things such as being a Boy Scout Leader, Youth Camp Director, the American Red Cross, Boundary Waters Youth Camp, director of senior camps at Clearwater Camp, MN. He enjoyed working, camping, gardening and needlepoint.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 60 years, Lois; children: Daniel (Janet) of Perham, Elizabeth Montgomery of San Jose, CA, Jonathan of Crosby, David (Rachel) of St. Cloud; 9 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren.

Preceding George in death are his parents; a sister; 4 brothers-in-law; son-in-law, Joe Montgomery.

A memorial service for George will be held on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 11AM at First Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be one-hour prior to the service, Saturday at the Church. Interment will be at the Germantown Cemetery in, SD at a later date.

Memorial can be sent to Cook College, Tempe, AZ, First Presbyterian Church (Deacon’s Fund) Parkinson’s Foundation, or charity of your choice.
