Obituary for Lisa Ranne Mathews

Lisa Mathews, 61, of Greeley, Colorado, passed away peacefully at home on February 28, 2018 in Greeley. Lisa lost her battle with cancer, fighting until the end, never once complaining along her journey.

She was born to Jerry and Claudia (Wynn) Ranne on August 6, 1956 in Omaha, Nebraska. Lisa graduated from Burke High School in Omaha in 1974 and studied Radiologic Technology at Archbishop Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha graduating in 1976. Through her career as an x-ray technician Lisa made numerous lifelong friends and it was her career and friends that brought her to Greeley. Lisa married her husband of 36 years, Randy Mathews on June 27, 1981 in Lake Tahoe.

Lisa was an avid golfer, her crowning achievement on the course was hitting a hole in one at the Fort Collins Country Club with her best friend by her side. She loved going out on the town to a special event, concert, or favorite restaurant with her daughter and looked forward to vacationing on the beach in Mexico yearly. Lisa was a true animal lover who always had a dog, or dogs, by her side. Most importantly Lisa was an amazing wife and mom endlessly taking care of her family. She was truly a generous person, thinking of everyone else before herself and was a friend to many.

Lisa was survived by her husband; daughter, Erin Mathews; and her sister, Valarie (Allen) Diehl.

A private celebration with friends is planned for the end of spring.

Lisa was a strong believer in, and an advocate for, the education provided by Greeley-Evans School District 6. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to The Success Foundation Serving Greeley-Evans Schools, 1025 Ninth Avenue, Greeley, Colorado 80631 or through their website www.d6successfoundation.org.
