Obituary for Marjorie A "Marjie" Visken (Erb)

Marjorie A "Marjie" Visken (Erb)
Marjorie A. Visken, 92, passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at her home in Amherst, NH with her loving daughter by her side. A lifelong resident of Nashua, “Marjie” was born on January 12, 1926 on Charlotte Avenue, where she resided for 83 years. She was a 1945 graduate of Nashua High School.

During WWII, Marjie was active in the Red Cross and volunteered at the Fort Devens Army base in MA. She also was one of the first WWII female factory workers and a USO member. Marjie loved to dance and met her late husband, Walter Visken, at a USO social. They married in 1947 and shared 61 loving years together until his passing in 2009.

Marjie was a part of the Jean's Foodland family where she worked for many years. She knew everyone and everyone knew her. Her laughter could always be heard throughout the store. She was a frequent customer at Hayward’s Ice Cream and loved to visit various farm stands throughout the area. Every summer, she vacationed at her favorite place in the world, York Beach, Maine, where she would also indulge in her favorite activities, which included shopping and eating her favorite foods, lobster and fried clams. Marjie, always happy, will be remembered as the life of the party and someone who exuded vibrance and color wherever she went.

In addition to her parents and husband, Marjie was predeceased by her sister, Shirley Morrisette.

Marjie is survived by her daughters, Sandra and Deborah Visken, both of Nashua and Susan Visken-Diaz and her husband, Duke, of Northford, CT, a grandson, Evan Diaz (at UNH in Durham) and nieces Claire Marquis, Joan Anastasiou, Carol Buszek, Kathy Michaud and Paula diPontbriand. She also leaves behind many loving extended family members and friends.

Marjie’s family would like to thank the community at Parkhurst Place and the professionals at Visiting Angels for their loving care.
