Darrell Wood, 84, of Independence, MO passed away March 4, 2018. A visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 8, at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 9, at The Life Church, 10400 View High Drive, KCMO, with burial to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Darrell was born August 21, 1933 in Paragould, AR to Charlie and Violet Wood. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War. In 1996, he retired from Hallmark Cards, where he had worked for 29 years. He was a member of the Apostolic Outreach Center in Lee’s Summit. Darrell was preceded in death by his wife, Doris; and one daughter, Denise Wood. He is survived by one son, Darrell A. Wood; five daughters, Donna Sample and husband Jim; Diane Bax and husband Paul, Delaine Cavanagh and husband Frank, Drusilla Yeisley and husband Shawn, Destynee Trevino and husband Chris; two brothers, seventeen grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.
