Obituary for Gene Leroy Hess

Gene Leroy Hess
Hess, Gene
It is with great sadness that the family of Gene LeRoy Hess announces his passing after a many years battle with illness, on March 15th 2018, at the age of 75 years.
Born in Buchanan Michigan, Gene served in the 101st Airborne Division of the Army as a Specialist E-4. Following his enlistment, he displayed his extensive talents and skills through everything from corporate management to owning and operating his companies, including G.L. Hess & Son Builders. However, the beginning to his life story truly began upon meeting the love of his life, Diana. Gene’s pleasures in life included hunting, boating, fishing, building for friends and family, playing Black Jack, joking and brain teasers, cooking, and going out to eat. He loved family events and meals at home, spent with the ones he loved. Many can claim stories of the skills he taught them and the life lessons he shared. He was the world to his two children, and the best friend of his 1 year old grandson who was not only named for him, but looks more and more like Gene everyday. He has left behind many that loved him dearly and will carry on his memory.
He is survived by his loving wife, Diana (nee Witucki), his beloved children Richard and Christina (Jayson), and his namesake grandson Casimer (Caz) LeRoy. He will also be fondly remembered by his brothers Jack Jr. (Sally) and Gary (Sandy), his sister Cheryl, and his many nephews and nieces. Gene was predeceased by his parents Jack Sr. and Phyllis Henrietta, and his sister Constance.
A celebration of Gene’s life will be held at 2pm, on April 13th 2018, at the Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston Texas.
Respects may be paid to Gene’s home with his wife, in Friendswood Texas.
