Obituary for John "Red" Palsi Jr.

John Palsi, Jr. “Red”, 84, of East Rutherford for 58 years, passed away at home on March 30, 2018. Mr. Palsi served in the U.S. Navy on the destroyer USS Abbot during the Korean War. For the last 15 years, he was the proprietor of Redd’s Restaurant & Bar in Carlstadt where he enjoyed spending time every day with his friends. Prior he was the proprietor of the Half Way Bar & Grill for over 40 years. John was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s R.C. Church, a member of the East Rutherford American Legion Post 67 and the Carlstadt V.F.W. Post 3149. He loved being at his other home in Point Pleasant Beach and going fishing with his daughter Darlene on his boat the Miss Darlene. Beloved husband of Elsie Ann “Tootsie” (nee Urciuoli) Palsi. Loving father of John Paul Palsi and his wife Donna, Darlene Ann Palsi, Daniel Palsi and his wife Nergis, David Palsi and his wife Audra and Douglas Palsi and his wife Renee. Cherished grandfather of Katya, Stephen, Michael, John, Bryan, Caroline, Nicholas, Luke, Jonathan, Sean and Dean. Dear brother of Helen Carabillo and her husband Joseph and the late Dolores Blondek and her husband Stanley. Friend, brother-in-law and long-time business partner of Carmen “Nuchie” Urciuoli. Funeral departing from the Kimak Funeral Home, 425 Broad Street, Carlstadt on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at 9:00 AM for a Funeral Mass in St. Joseph’s R.C. Church, East Rutherford at 9:30 AM. Entombment St. Nicholas Cemetery, Lodi. Visitation Tuesday 3-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Arc of Bergen & Passaic Counties, 223 Moore St., Hackensack, NJ 07601.
