Life Story for Sonia Susman

Sonia (nee Katz) Susman, age 86, of Wyckoff NJ passed away on Monday, April 16, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife for 61 years of the late Alexander R. Susman. Devoted mother of Miriam J. Parkinson and her husband Gary of Wyckoff NJ, and Beth Amy Susman of Montvale NJ. Cherished grandmother of Victor and his wife Renee, Regina and Benjamin Parkinson, and Jordon, Caroline and Danielle Schimmenti. Dear sister of Sylvia Lubliner of Jacksonville Fl. Prior to her retirement Sonia was an elementary school teacher and reading specialist for the Fair Lawn Board of Education at Westmoreland Elementary School. Sonia was a graduate of Hunter High School in New York City, and was a graduate of Hunter College in New York City where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Education, and was also a graduate of William Paterson University in Wayne NJ where she earned a Master’s degree in reading. Sonia was a former member of the Fair Lawn Jewish Center, a former member of Temple Beth Sholom in Fair Lawn, was a member of the New Jersey Education Association, National Council of Jewish Women, was the treasurer of the Fair Lawn Jewish Center Torah fund, and was a volunteer for domestic violence victims at the Bergen County Courthouse in Hackensack. Services will be 12:30 PM Wednesday April 18, 2018 at Louis Suburban Chapel 13-01 Broadway (Route 4 West) Fair Lawn NJ. Burial will follow at Beth El Cemetery, 735 Forest Avenue, Paramus NJ. Memorial donations in memory of Sonia K. Susman may be made to Congregation B’Nai Israel Torah Fund, 10-10 Norma Avenue, Fair Lawn NJ 07410, or Christian Health Care Foundation Southgate Program 301 Sicomac Avenue, Wyckoff NJ 07481
