Obituary of Hilton “Punny” Francois

Hilton “Punny” Joseph Francois entered eternal rest on Friday, April 20, 2018 at his home in River Ridge, LA, at the age of 81 years old. He was born March 15, 1937 to the late Cornelius Francois, Sr. and Isabella Davis Francois.
Hilton was the beloved husband of Doris Bazile Francois. Hilton and Doris were united in holy matrimony on November 28, 1964 at Our Lady of Grace Roman Catholic Church in Reserve, LA. God blessed their union with the birth of three daughters, Davana Francois Robertson of River Ridge, LA; Danaka Francois of Metairie, LA; and Drenean Francois Brown of LaPlace, LA. Along with his three biological daughters, he was blessed with a fourth daughter, Maleya Rousseau of LaPlace, LA, who he helped to raise and considered her one of his own.
Hilton was a baptized at Our Lady of Grace Roman Catholic Church where he served for many years as an altar server. He was a graduate of Southern University of Baton Rouge, where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Education. He was employed for Shell Refinery in Norco, LA for 20 years before returning to his first love of education. He taught in St. John the Baptist Parish Public School System for 22 years until his retirement in May of 2004. During his career, he received many citations and commendations for his work including being named as teacher of the year. He lived a full and beautiful life and was at peace with the Lord.
Hilton was preceded in death by his parents Cornelius Sr. and Isabella Davis; three sisters: Annabella Francois, Cecile Frank, and Dolores Howard; and five brothers: Cornelius Francois, Jr., Alfred Francois, Wilton Francois, William Francois, and Ray Francois.
Hilton leaves behind to cherish his memories, his devoted wife, Doris, his beloved daughter, Davana; son-in-law Willie Robertson; beloved daughter Danaka; beloved daughter Drenean; son-in-law Alphonse Brown, Jr.; two beloved sisters Isabella Smith and Catherine (Leonard) White; beloved brother-in-law Harold Bazile, Sr. along with his loving grandchildren, Shawn, Shana, Drew, Ashlyn, Kennedy, and Bailey; great-grandchildren Lawrence and Kaiden; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, god-children, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a mass of Christian burial on Saturday April 28,2018 at 10:00am from Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church 772 La-44 Reserve, La. Father Chris Amadi SSJ celebrant. Visitation at the church after 8:00am, recitation of the rosary at 9:15am. Entombment St. Peter Catholic Church Cemetery. Reserve, La.
