Condolence From: Thomas E. West
Condolence: I was saddened when I saw the Dorothy had passed. We were friends through her piano, as I was her piano tuner. I looked forward to the times when she would have me come to see her piano and converse with her. She was a most energetic and interesting person to be around and I have missed seeing her in recent times. I know that she loved her family and I just want to say that I wish the best for them as they go through this time of loss.

Condolence: Dear all,

Dorothy was not only my friend, but also a constant source of inspiration and encouragement throughout the many years I have been blessed to know her. We met at UNC in the 1980s (where for at least a year or so we shared office space), and for several years we were members of the same Lutheran congregation. Even after both of us were retired we continued to get together at least once a year for lunch, a good visit, and a game of scrabble. Only during this past year or so have my own part-time employment and daily care of a little grandson kept me from continuing that tradition.

I know how deeply Dorothy loved and treasured each of you, for a detailed update on her wonderful family was part of our annual conversations. She truly loved with all her heart.

Dorothy exemplified for me the "power of positive thinking," the unconditional nature of God's love, an unfailing appreciation of all things good, an overflowing generosity toward others, and a deeply patriotic spirit and pride in her country. Dorothy participated fully in life!

Please accept my condolences as you mourn her passing, and know that I will always celebrate the joy of having known her. My love to each of you - those I know and those I don't. God bless you.

Condolence: We are so sorry to hear about your mother's passing. I know her life was blessed to have you for a daughter. You and Doug will be in our prayers. Please let us know if we can help in any way.
