Koprucki, Bruce Gordon, 64, of Chaska, MN, died Friday, May 4, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital, Shakopee, MN, following a courageous battle with a glioblastoma brain tumor.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Pax Christi Catholic Community, 12100 Pioneer Trail, Eden Prairie, MN. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00-11:00 a.m., prior to the funeral. Burial will be at a later date at Mount Hope Cemetery, Springview, NE.
Bruce was born to Paul and Martha (Van Gansbeke) Koprucki on October 4, 1953, in Blue Island, IL, where he grew up. He graduated from Iowa State University in 1979.
Following graduation, he worked in city planning agencies in Fort Dodge and Council Bluffs, IA and Chaska, MN. From 1988-2016, he was a self-employed remodeling and landscape architecture contractor and artist.
Bruce married Jean M. Clay on August 4, 1984 in Ainsworth, NE. They made homes in Council Bluffs, IA and Chaska, MN.
Bruce was active in the Boy Scouts of America, Lake Country Pastel Society, Pax Christi Arts Council, and Minnesota Design Team. He was an avid hiker and bicycle touring enthusiast. A gifted visual artist, Bruce was passionate about the arts and earnestly encouraged others in their creative efforts of all kinds. A warm people person, in any gathering Bruce could be relied on to make certain everyone felt welcomed and included. His curious mind reveled in conversation, and he loved to listen and learn as well as to share his views, punctuating the dialogue with expansive gestures. He was also fond of trains, environmental causes, cryptoquip and number puzzles, and terrible puns.
Bruce was preceded in death by his father, Paul Koprucki, and younger brother, Mark Koprucki.
He is survived by his wife of 33 ¾ years, Jean Koprucki of Chaska, MN; son Bryce Koprucki of Chanhassen, MN; mother, Martha Koprucki of Palos Heights, IL; brother Paul (Chris) Koprucki of Louisville, KY; sisters Karen (Ben) Summerfelt, Antioch, IL; and Kay Koprucki of New Lenox, IL; brother-in-law Bill Clay of Minden, NE; sister-in-law Julie (Steve) Hoesel of Fort Dodge, IA; and nieces and nephews.
