The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Donald Shipman can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Condolence: Dear Diane, Ike, Samantha and Family,
“And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.” John 16:22

Both Susan and I were saddened to hear of Don’s passing. I was so very blessed to have served with him in the 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne) during the Persian Gulf War. Over these last few months, we had many meaningful discussions about SF, family and faith. Don's courage and Warrior-Healer legacy is an inspiration for all and will endure for many generations. Please accept our deepest condolences and know that you are in our prayers. As a spiritual gift to your family, you shall be remembered daily in the Liturgy of the Hours and honored each year on or about the 5th of May with a Celebration of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass or Sanctuary/Votive Candle at Saint John the Apostle Catholic Church, Virginia Beach, Virginia offered in memory of Don. As you endure these sorrowful days, please remember that Don's life did not end, it only changed. With love and God’s blessing to you all

Condolence: My heart goes out to all the family at this time. May God give you comfort and strenght. There are no words I can say but this... I only met Don for a moment but I know he was a kind loving brilliant man. You could see his love for his family in everything he did to the end. His love and legacy in Diane Ike and Samantha shines bright every day and will continue to make this world a better place to all they come in contact with. Much love and healing light sent from my family to yours.
