Eugene “Gene” Metzger was a strong, hardworking, loving husband, father, and grandfather. Gene passed away on May 11, 2018 in Billings, MT surrounded by family. Gene was born March 14, 1939 east of Laurel, to Christ and Alvina Metzger. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and four sisters. Gene is survived by his wife Carol of 50 years, daughter Kelly (Dale) Spah, son Jason (Carrie) Metzger, grandson Michael Metzger, brother George Metzger, brother Marvin (Maria) Metzger, and sister Delores (Andy) Riesinger and numerous nieces and nephews. He retired from Western Sugar after 40 years of service. For 10 years, he was fire chief for his local volunteer fire department. He enjoyed farming, welding lawn ornaments from horseshoes, fishing, hunting, and camping. Services will be held at Smith West Chapel, 304 34th St. West on May 17, at 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be given to Special K Ranch.
