Obituary for Joseph E. Reed

Joseph E.  Reed
Joseph Ellsworth Reed, age 83, passed away at his home in Washington, NH on Thursday, May 10, 2018. He was born on September 4, 1934 in Roxbury, VT, the son of the late Ellsworth and Alice (Jerry) Reed.

Joseph worked as a truck driver, working for F & S Transit Mix and later for his own company, Reed’s Trucking. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 633 Truckers Union. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion in Skowhegan Maine.

Joseph was an auto racing enthusiast, visiting speedways like Hudson Speedway, Star Speedway, Cannon Speedway and NH and Pine Speedway. He loved to garden and be in the woods cutting wood and snowmobiling. He also loved to play cards, work on puzzles and spent as much time as he could in Maine.

Joseph was predeceased by his wife, Frieda (Stenzel) Reed who passed away in 2003 and his brother Tony Reed.

Joseph is survived by his son, Mark Reed and his wife Sherri of Washington, NH, brothers, Tommy Reed of Boscawen and Teddy Reed of Texas, a sister, Bunny and her husband Dean Lilly of Florida and a sister in law Eloise of Georgia. Joseph also leaves behind many loving extended family members and friends.

SERVICES: Friends and family are warmly invited to attend a graveside service on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 10:00AM at the Hillcrest Cemetery, Hillcrest Rd., Litchfield, NH.
