Obituary for Robert A. Clemens Sr.

Robert Allan Clemens Sr., 80, of Scranton passed away peacefully into the arms of our Lord on Sunday May 27, 2018 at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart Inpatient Unit with his loving family at his bedside. His wife of 58 years is the former Dolores Legg.
Born June 15, 1937 to the late Ernest and Margaret McGlone Clemens, he was a graduate of Scranton Central High School, Class of 1955 and attended Lackawanna Junior College. He was a United States Navy Veteran and retired from the Tobyhanna Army Depot. He also worked odd jobs and was co-owner of Checkers Pizza in Wilkes-Barre. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, loved playing chess, and reading were his favorite pastimes.
Robert’s family would like to thank the staff at the Regional Hospital of Scranton and at Hospice of the Sacred Heart for the wonderful care they gave Robert at this most difficult time.
Also surviving are sons Robert Jr. and wife Theresa, Clarks Summit and James Sr. and wife Caroline, Taylor; daughter Carolyn and companion Dave Ianniccari, Avoca; daughter-in-law Judi Clemens, Scranton; 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and cousins; also his furry pal Milo.
He was preceded in death by daughter Donna Marie; son Patrick, and infant son Michael; brother Charles Clemens.
The funeral will be conducted Friday from the Miller Bean Funeral Home Inc., 436 Cedar Ave., Scranton, with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 in St. Ann’s Basilica, 1233 St. Ann St. Scranton. Entombment with Military Honors will follow in Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst. Friends may call Thursday, 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Sacred Heart 600 Baltimore Dr. Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702 or to the Regional Hospital of Scranton 746 Jefferson Ave. Scranton, PA 18510.
