Upon receiving his Associate's Degree in accounting, he accepted a state job in Medical Lake as an accountant. They made their new home in Cheney and Roger also continued his education, taking night classes at Spokane Falls Community College. He became a Mental Health Technician working in direct patient care at Eastern State Mental Hospital and remained there until retiring. In 2010, they moved to make their home in Cashmere, Washington.
