Obituary for Georgette C. Snell

Georgette C.  Snell
Georgette Cecile Duquette Snell, 93 of Schenectady passed away peacefully with her daughters by her side on 6/1/18. She was born in Fall River, MA on July 28, 1924 to Cecile (Arsenault) Duquette and Romeo Duquette. The family moved to Schenectady in 1929. Georgette was a 1943 graduate of Mont Pleasant High School.

Following graduation, she was employed by the General Electric Company for four years. Attended Plattsburgh State College, married and had 2 daughters. She was employed by Mohawk National Bank as a teller from 1958 until 1984.

She was a member of the Schenectady winter sports club. She loved outdoor activities, including gardening, hiking, swimming, biking, camping and skiing. A true lover of nature. She loved “all of God’s creatures”. She enjoyed camp in New Hampshire and vacations in Maine and Cape Cod. She was a member of Sacred Heart/St. Joseph’s parishes.

She is predeceased by her parents Romeo and Cecile Duquette. Survivors include her sister, Pauline Ogrodnik of Ormond Beach, FL, children, Patricia (Jim) Poehling of Fredericksburg, VA, Barbara Perry (Bob Dressel) of Clifton Park, NY, grandchildren, Jennifer (John) Zacharek, Kyle (Cat) Poehling, Kendra (Jeremy) Sellars, and great grandchildren Savannah, McKinley, Arden, and Weston Sellars.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday morning June 6th at 9:15 am at Bond Funeral Home, Broadway & Guilderland Ave., Schenectady, NY, followed at 10 am at St. Joseph’s Church, 600 State St., Schenectady, NY where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 5 to 7 pm. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Interment will be held in Most holy Redeemer Cemetery in Niskayuna, NY.
