Condolence: Dear Castle family,

Pete was one my dearest friends in law school, we worked and studied together frequently. We shared an interest in serving communities of need and so a lot of our coursework and extracurricular activities intersected.

We went our separate ways after graduation and gradually lost touch. Like so many have said here, there was something about his spirit, his humor and his deep, unabiding decency that lingered with me long after we lost touch.

I'm sorry for your loss. I hope it provides some small comfort to know that even with miles and years between us now, I think of him fondly and cherish his memory.

Condolence: Dear Castle family,

My condolences for your loss. I also met Peter when he was a law student at Santa Clara University, where I worked in the same office as Bryan Hinkle. He brought light into our work. I remember when I told him my mom lived in Longmont, he explained he preferred to refer to his home town as “Largemont.”

Well, I know live in Largemont with my wife and two daughtloers, having moved here last summer. So perhaps we’ll have the opportunity to meet someday. It would be a pleasure to meet the people reasponsible for raising such a fine person.

I am so sorry to hear about Peter.

I had the privilege of working with Peter when he served as one of our Public Interest Law Career Services Coordinators at Santa Clara University School of Law. He and Braeden Sullivan were a fantastic team. It is safe to say that Peter was one of my favorite students of all time, for all the reasons you can imagine. What I remember most: nothing specific, except a lot of laughter. The kind of laughter that hurts after a while.

We meet new people every day. People fall into and out of our lives with regularity. And then there are those special souls who we are blessed to encounter. They touch us. They change our lives. They leave a mark that doesn't go away. Not with distance, time, or even death. We are better for having known them. They make us rich in the best possible way, and this the greatest part of the human experience.

Peter had many special gifts. His ability to make me laugh and feel joy is what I will remember the most. My thoughts are with you, his friends and family.
