The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Ann Angela Novokmet can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Condolences

Condolence From: John & Maria Vennare
Condolence: A Tribute To The Girl With The Long Red Hair.

We have lived in our home for 25 years. My children were 21 months, 3 years and 4 1/2 years when we moved in. They were blessed in growing up on a street where everybody knows your name. Coming home from work and seeing bikes, water-guns, hockey sticks, basketballs skipping ropes strewn all over the driveway was an awesome site. In total, 15 Kids played outside usually until it was time to go to bed. There were many elements that made our street/neighbourhood special. From street BBQ's, to annual ball hockey tournaments, which included dads. Some elements were a given almost on a daily basis; Vince washing his car, John playing catch with his son, Tom tending to his front yard, me watering the grass with a beer in hand, and the young lady with waist-long red hair coming home every night at 7pm. She would come around the bus stop corner and walk past us all in a confident and purposeful stride. She would give the occasional smile at the kids but never engage in conversation. She lived around the corner from the end of our street and never really stayed out. Everyone respected her space and did not approach her. She had the option of taking a shorter route home but preferred walking down our street. Perhaps she too enjoyed seeing this 'Rockwell style' neighbourhood. For 25 years, her routine, her walk, her hair never changed. Kids got older, went to university, some married and some have moved, but this young lady NEVER changed her routine and never aged. She looked the same. She was like the sun that came out every night at 7pm. The last few months, that changed. She did not come by. Everyone on the street speculated, perhaps she got a job out of town, maybe she met someone and moved out etc. Yesterday, we found out that she had brain cancer and passed away in June. Everyone on our street is in shock and filled with tears.

Our street/neighbourhood has lost a beautiful soul that has been part of our daily lives for 25 years. Ann Angela was our street's equilibrium. Mr. & Mrs. Novokmet, my wife, my children and I are truly sorry for your lose, and want you to know the impact and emptiness your daughter has left on our lives. It will be very difficult sitting on our porch in the evening, knowing that Ann Angela, with her long beautiful red hair, will not be coming around that corner. Without saying a word, she has touched our souls.

May she rest in peace. God Bless your family and guide you through this difficult time.

Condolence: Ana and I enjoyed a shared passion for ballet. I will miss hearing her opinions of recent performances - all delivered with her usual honesty and dry wit. My condolences to Ana's family and friends.

Condolence: I wanted to pass along my condolences to Jean and to the Novokmet family. It's tragic when someone so young and capable passes away. Ana made some very significant contributions to the Cancer Genetics field. She will be missed.
