Mary Louise Kelly, (nee Manning), 93 of Lake Forest, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2018. Born November 29, 1924 in Allegheny County, PA, Mary Louise was and forever will be Beloved wife of the late John R. (“Jack”) Kelly, Sr., Loving sister to the late Helen Weissman, Cherished sister-in-law to the late Herbert M. Kelly; Devoted mother to 5 sons and 2 daughters- Thomas (Karen) Kelly of Boise, ID, John (Cathy) Kelly Jr. of Milwaukee, WI, Marcia (Andy) Rice of Lake Forest, IL, Charles Kelly of Las Vegas, NV, the late Christopher (Carmen) Kelly, Patrick (Courtney) Kelly of New Albany, OH, Gertrude (David) Jewell of Virginia Beach, VA. Loving Grandmother to 15; Treasured Great Grandmother of 10. Known for her quick wit, selfless nature, and eternal optimism, she will be dearly missed by all who knew her. A genuinely cheerful and devoted daughter of the late Thomas and the late Helen Manning, Mary Louise graduated from St. Mary of the Mount High School in Pittsburgh, PA in 1942, followed by the Pittsburgh Hospital School of Nursing in 1944. Marrying in 1948, she supported and loved her husband and life partner, Jack, until his death in 2001. According to Jack, Mary Louise “brought out the best in me and overlooked the rest of me”. As a practicing obstetrics nurse, she assisted in countless deliveries. Having left formal nursing several decades ago to raise her family, she continued to nurture and heal the spirit of all who had the fortune to meet her. Truly one in a million, Mary Louise will continue to touch and guide her loved ones with her strength and wisdom. There will be a visitation, Saturday, June 16, 2018 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am at St. Patrick Church , 950 W. Everett, Lake Forest, IL followed with the funeral mass at 11:00 am. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1379 Dublin Road, Columbus, OH 43215.
