Obituary for William Clarke

William G. (Bill) Clarke 88 of East Stroudsburg, Pa. died on Wednesday June 20, 2018 surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was the husband of Ellen M. (Cotter) Clarke. Born in Bayonne, N.J. he was the son of William F. and Helen V. (Dineen) Clarke.

Bill was a resident of the E. Stroudsburg area for the past 34 years and prior to that he resided in the Bogota, N.J. area. He worked as a dockman for the I.M.T.T. Company in Bayonne, N.J. for many years. Bill was a member of St. John Church of the Apostle Catholic church in E. Stroudsburg, Pa. and he was an army veteran of the Korean War.

In addition to his wife Ellen he is survived by a son Robert Clarke and wife Lisa of Cave Creek, AZ., and 2 daughters: Mary Wertheimer husband Jeff of Wind Gap, Pa. and Kathleen Dwyer husband Michael of E. Stroudsburg, Pa., nine grandchildren: Rachel, Joshua, Sarah, Nicole, Jonathan, Jennifer, Brian, Megan and Michael, and 10 great grandchildren: Xavier, Zoey, Evan, Aiden, Steven, Riley, Thomas, Catherine, Mikaila and Michael. Bill was preceded in death by 2 sons: William D. Clarke and Thomas E. Clarke.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday June 26, 2018 at 10:00am at St. John’s Church of the Apostle 5171 Milford Rd. E. Stroudsburg, Pa. with Fr. Gregory A. Reichlen as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Cresthaven Cemetery Clifton, New Jersey. There will be a viewing on Monday June 25, 2018 from4-8:00pm at the Joseph J. Pula Funeral Home Inc. 23 N. 9th.St.Stroudsburg, Pa.
