R..I.P grandpa Kauffman. You taught me everything I know about farming, riding 4 wheelers, snowmobiles and motorcycles. I remember riding on your lap in the tractors to farm all the land and loved every time i was able to go for a tractor ride. Then as i got older it was time to help out on the farm. Driving the tractors on my own, learning how to count and set the water. I loved every minute of it! Along with my mother, you taught me work ethic and always no matter what to get up for work. I think of you everyday that i drive by your land and remember all the goods times. I think of you every time I eat a pancake because you loved making us your famous buttermilk pancakes.
You always had the patience of job. No matter what i did or what we did as kids, you never yelled, you always took it as a teaching opportunity, even the time I almost blow up the new 4 wheeler because i didn’t check the oil before going out riding on the farm. You were and are the best grandfather a girl could ever ask for.
So with that being said, there are a few corrections that need to be made with his obituary. He was not “just a jack of all trades” he was a man that was loved by many. He helped so many in the community. He was named Grand Marshall in Gilcrest because he was always doing something for his community. I remember when Gilcrest had a huge flood from storms and he put all his irrigation pipes together so the town of Gilcrest could start moving the water. He built an ice skating rink in the winter so we and all our friends could ice skate and still have fun in the winter whilst we weren’t farming. I can go on and on about his accomplishments, his community involvement and how much he loved ALL of his family! This man was a great man and will be missed by many!
He is not only proceeded in death of his parents but also his grandson Zachariah Kauffman.
He had 6 grandchildren- Justin, Kim, Nash, Nicci, Jackie and Zach.
He also has 11 great grandchildren.
