Obituary for Joyce Joanne Krieger (Balger)

Joyce JoAnn Balzer Krieger, age 83 of Billings, passed away due to complications from heart surgery on June 25th, 2018. She was born in Huntley, MT, Yellowstone County on July 9th, 1934 to Jake and Elsie Balzer. On August 18th, 1951, she married the sweetheart of her dreams, Albert Joseph Krieger. They farmed in the Worden area for ten years and later moved to Billings.

Joyce was a lifetime member of Pilgrim Congregational Church and was passionate and active in her church family. She taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, sang in the church choir, and took her role as deacon of the church with great pride.

Grandma Joyce loved her family with all of her heart. Her memories and years spent on the Huntley Project were cherished with playing with her siblings Junie and Ken, playing cards, topping beets and hours spent creating memories with her family. She loved her rich German heritage with dancing the polka and cooking a variety of German dishes, passing those recipes down to her family. Her sister and best friend, Junie was one of her greatest treasures in life.

Albert and Joyce began this wonderful family with their four children. She is survived by Randell (Cindy), Conley (Jimmye), Steven (Mary) of Billings, and Kelly (Randy) of Denton, MT. They created a large family of 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren with 2 on the way, and 2 great-great grandchildren. They were her greatest pride and joy and her love for them was unending. She followed them in all of their activities and celebrations, and reminded them daily of how special and loved they were. We will miss our precious mom and grandma, but know that she was greeted by the love of her life and will rest forever in the loving arms of Jesus in Heaven.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband Albert, her mother and father, and her brother Kenneth Balzer,

Services will be held on Friday, June 29th, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Pilgrim Congregational Church, 409 S. 36th St. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
