The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Leona Gillespie can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

Condolence: Leona was a lovely sweet and kind woman whom I knew from St. Timothy church. I just found this information as I moved to Jenison in 2011.

So sorry for her loss to her family.

Condolence From: Judah Gesmundo/Gesmundo Family
Condolence: Paul, myself and the Gesmundo Family send our love and prayers on the occasion of Leona’s passing. We recall with great fondness memories of our childhood days spent with Downey/Gillespe family members. Leona was always a loving, kind and joyful matriarch, who welcomed us all and cared for us like we were part of her clan. I'm sure Gus, Midge, Glenn and many others have welcomed her with loving hugs into the heavenly abode. To Downey/Gillespe family members, we hold you in our hearts at this time of loss and know that many loving and fun memories of Leona will serve to uplift you.

Condolence From: Suzie A Tooman
Condolence: My deepest sympathy at the passing of Leona. I've only known her a few years, but she always had a smile and a kind word. She would write me notes thanking me for mailing the monthly church newsletter. I would include a recent bulletin and she said it was like being here for the service and she even sang along to some of the printed songs. When God took her back he said "Halleluja, you're home."

Condolence From: Cindy Ickes Shoens
Condolence: The Ickes Family is very saddened to learn the news of Leona’s passing. The years we spent living across the street from the Downey / Gillespe family brings many happy memories. Leona was such a sweet, kind lady, always smiling. She watched after my brother Bob and me as if we were one of her own. I know Carol Anne and my Dad were waiting at the gates of heaven to greet her.
May God’s promise of everlasting life help to bring peace to your hearts.
