Obituary for Bobby Nakashian

Bobby  Nakashian
Bobby Nakashian, 87, formerly of Lakewood passed away in Atlanta, Georgia on Thursday, July 5, 2018. Bobby was born in and lived nearly his entire life in New Jersey. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force as a master sergeant at the end of the World War II in the occupation of Japan and during the Korean War. Bobby was West Coast Golden Gloves Boxing Champion and a proud member of the U.S. Olympic Boxing Team during his years in the military. He lived in Clifton during his adult life before retiring and moving to Lakewood in 1995. He worked at Hoffmann-La Roche in Nutley for 25 years after leaving the dry cleaning business. He was an active member of St. Stepanos Armenian Church in Elberon, NJ for 30 years, serving on the Parish Council as treasurer for several years. He greeted everyone with a cheerful smile and was devoted to his family, friends and church. Bobby, together with his wife Nazeni of 55 years, enjoyed traveling the world and gathering in the company of friends and family. Their door was always open to help family members who needed a place to stay, those who needed a start as immigrants to the U.S. and many visitors from around the world.


Bobby was predeceased by his wife Nazeni and son Aram Nakashian, and brothers Aram and Edward Nakashian. In his immediate family, he is survived by his loving daughter and son-in-law, Arpie Nakashian McQueen and Eric McQueen; two cherished grandchildren Valerie and Samantha McQueen; a nephew Garabed Macaryan and Garabed’s daughter Andrena Esola. Bobby is also survived by a brother Richard Nakashian along with many other nephews and nieces.


Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Monday, July 9, 5 - 8 p.m. at Stepanos Armenian Church, 1184 Ocean Avenue, Elberon, NJ. Funeral mass will be 10:00 am on Tuesday, July 10 at St. Stepanos Armenian Church. Interment will follow at East Ridgelawn Cemetery in Clifton, NJ. At the request of the family in lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Stepanos Armenian Church and the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation.
