Obituary for Joseph Mayhew

Joseph “Mickey” Mayhew was born on March 16, 1938 in Belmont, Trinidad, West Indies to Angela and Norman Mayhew. Michael worked as a technician for Rediffusion and also a taxi driver before migrating to the United States in the late eighties.

Michael worked various jobs to support his family back home. Known to many as “Uncle Mickey” he loved to eat, cook and boss people around. Pork/Salt meat was his meat of choice and would often chant, “something salt….. something salt…. something salt tuh put in yuh mouth”. He always had nicknames for everyone and bought so much joy and laughter to everyone he encountered.

Michael leaves behind to mourn his wife Joyce of more than 47 years and five children; Marva, Elicia, Joseph 'Junior' , Charlene, Sonia and Franka. Also his granddaughter Tenika and daughter in law Leisha McEachnie-Mayhew. Michael was one of eleven children: Sisters Jean, Cynthia, Patsy, Veronica and very dear friend and brother Carl. Although he has left us in the flesh, we know that his spirit will be welcomed by those gone before him who includes his parents, Norman and Angela, and siblings Jemma, Kelvin, Ancil, Adolph, Desmond and Herbert. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

A Viewing will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2018 from 10:00 to 11:00am followed by Funeral Service at 11:00 O’clock at Riley-Antoine Funeral Home 171 Humboldt Ave., Dorchester, MA 02121
